What is ASTM D6400?
The ASTM, or the American Society for Testing and Materials, develops and publishes technical standards for materials and products.
ASTM D6400 refers to the Standard Specification for Labeling of Plastics Designed to be Aerobically Composted in Municipal or Industrial Facilities. This specification was created to assess plastic and plastic products that are made to be compostable. It determines which plastic products can be composted or biodegraded in municipal or industrial facilities, and how long they will take to decompose.
The specification is also necessary to determine if products can compost at a similar rate to other compostable materials.
CiboWares offers a variety of recyclable cups, takeout containers, and other products that are ASTM D6400 compliant.
