CloseWhat is a Mil?
Here at CiboWares we use mil to measure the gauge or thickness of our gloves, aprons, disposable bags, and arm guards. But what is a mil? What does it refer to?
A mil is equal to one thousandth of an inch (1 mil = 0.001”). The higher the gauge or mil the thicker the product. Gauge is sometimes used to describe the thickness of our plastic bags. Some products also use microns to refer to the thickness of the product. For reference, 2.54 microns = 1 mil.
The term mil is commonly confused with millimetre, but we do not use millimetre to describe the thickness of our products.
