The Recycling Process

First, recyclable cardboard is collected and taken to paper mills and other recycling facilities. The products are then sorted into two categories: boxboard, which refers to the thinner materials used in items like cereal boxes, and cardboard, the larger, thicker material used in packaging. Once sorted, cardboard materials are shredded into a pulp mixture and wood chips are added in order to help the product form.

The pulp then goes through filtering and de-inking processes in order to remove contaminants such as plastics, inks, and dyes. After this process, the cardboard is placed on a conveyor belt to dry.
